London-based Norton Rose has been appointed as a European legal advisor to ACE European Group, one of the biggest insurers in the world.
The appointment means Norton Rose will provide legal advice to ACE on regulatory matters and corporate operations in Europe and the Middle East.
Norton Rose joins Clyde & Co, the CMS network, Holman Fenwick Willan, and Mayer Brown on ACE’s first formal legal panel.
Two of ACE’s past favourite companies for legal advice were overlooked for selection on the panel.
Lovells, who have offered legal advice to ACE for over 20 years, and Barlow Lyde & Gilbert (BLG), who have worked with ACE in the past, were not selected to join the panel.
David Whear and Ashley Prebble, lead partners at Norton Rose, said they are ‘looking forward’ to working with a ‘leading global insurance business’.
The duo added that ACE’s European branch mirrors the business structure of Norton Rose.
A spokesperson for ACE said the company was ‘impressed’ with Norton Rose’s European expertise and integrated insurance offering.
ACE European Group trades in Europe under four brand names: ACE Europe, ACE Global Markets, ACE Tempest Re and ACE European Life.
