Marsh & McLennan Companies, Inc. (MMC) has announced that its new chief financial officer and executive vice president is to be Vanessa A. Wittman.
Wittman joins the firm from Adelphia Communications Corp., where she occupied the same two positions she will take on with MMC.
In her time at Adelphia she was one of a quartet who handled one of the most complicated bankruptcy cases ever to occur in the USA.
Earlier in her career she worked as chief financial officer of Seattle-based 360networks, and has also held positions with Morgan Stanley and Microsoft.
She is to be directly to responsible to Brian Duperreault, MMC’s CEO and president, and assumes her role as executive vice president on 10 September.
A few weeks later she will take on the additional responsibilities of the chief financial officer, on 15 October, succeeding Matthew B. Bartley.
Duperreault has welcomed the appointment and described Wittman as an experienced professional with a successful track record.
