Theo Bouts has been named as Thomas Buess’ successor by Zurich Financial Services Group.
Bouts is presently chief executive officer of the firm’s European Direct Business and Partnership unit, but will leave that role to assume the position of Global Life’s chief operating officer on 1 August.
He first joined Zurich some three years ago, hired as chief operating officer of the Europe General Insurance business division.
Since last July he has occupied his current post, which is deemed critical to Zurich’s multi-channel distribution strategy.
Because of this Bouts is to retain his present position for the time being, until a successor has been found.
Bouts will ease into the role during several weeks of transition and will focus his attention upon bringing about Global Life’s strategic objectives of converging platforms and operational transformation.
