Catlin Group Limited has announced that Nicholas Lyons is to take up a role as an independent non-executive director.

Lyons, who will assume his position on 6 August, will be subject to election by the board of directors at next year’s AGM.

He is to succeed Alton F. Irby III, who has served as non-executive director since May of last year.

Irby is parting ways with the firm due to the pressures of commitments elsewhere.

At present he is non-executive chairman of Miller Insurance Services Limited.

Prior to that he served as a managing director of Lehman Brothers in London, where he was responsible for the European Financial Institutions Group.

Lyons has also occupied positions with US firm JP Morgan & Co and Salomon Brothers.
