Bermuda-based insurer Ironshore has today announced the appointment of Bob Piller as president of IronSelect, a recently launched excess casualty facility.

He brings over 30 years of experience to the job, including a decade spent at Zurich North America Insurance Company where he served as senior vice president.

Earlier in his career, Piller worked for Odyssey Reinsurance Corporation as vice president with responsibility for supervision of casualty facultative operations.

In his new role, Piller is tasked with the development and enlargement of IronSelect’s platform and product range.

Piller is to report to Greg Flood, chief executive officer of Ironshore Holdings (US) Inc., and will be based at IronSelect’s office in New York.

Flood has described the appointment as a big win for IronShore as it seeks to expand into excess casualty.

IronSelect will handle medium commercial risks, including manufacturing accounts, contractors and retail/wholesale operations.
