Travel insurer Voyager, which is owned by Somerville Underwriting Holdings plc, has acquired CH Facilities, a broker which specialises in offering travel insurance to individuals with complex medical histories.

CHF, which trades as Able2Travel, has been a long-term partner of Voyager, and it is hoped that the acquisition will bolster Voyager’s travel, accident, sickness and health capabilities.

It is unknown precisely what the price of CHF was, though it is known that £1.3m will be added to Voyager’s current gross written premiums of £12m with Somerville possessing more than £50m.

Before the deal went through, Voyager provided underwriting facilities for CHF for many years.

The merger will take place under director Jonathan Buttery.

Buttery has explained that complicated medical issues can frequently exclude travellers from acquiring insurance, a group that the firm will now be able to cater for.
