AA reveals car vandalism stats

| April 14, 2008 | 2 Comments

AA Personal Loans has conducted research revealing that most cars are broken into or vandalised whilst parked in residential areas.

A majority, 72%, of drivers have had their car suffer damage through vandalism.

Almost half, 43%, of drivers know somebody whose car has been broken into whilst parked in a residential area.

Contrary to popular belief, residential streets are far riskier parking places than car parks which account for 24% of vandalism (supermarkets) and 13% (multi-storey).

The safest places to park are at a hospital, airport, school or church.

AA advises motorists to keep their vehicles in garages, a habit that not only promotes safety but also lessens insurance premiums by up to 35% in inner city areas and 7% in rural locations.
