Heath Lambert Group, the independent insurance broker, has formed a joint venture with health and safety specialist, Matrix Global Services, to provide an online resource for managing work road risk.

Using the facility, companies can download driver records, driver questionnaires, risk reduction action plans, and policy and process documentation.

Once data input is complete, the system can identify areas where a business might be exposed or non-compliant with legislation. It will then formulate a “to-do” list.

DRM can also provide an “ask the expert” option covering driver training, licence checking and insurance services.

Driving at work is now the single biggest cause of work related death in the UK.

According to the Occupational Road Safety Alliance, between one-quarter and one-third of all road traffic accidents involve someone driving at work, or on work related business.

Under the new Corporate Manslaughter Act, which came into effect earlier this month, company directors who fail to ensure their employees drive safely could face prosecution and ultimately, a custodial sentence.
