Brit Insurance Holdings has bolstered its presence in Northern Ireland with two appointments: Lawrence Burgess is named as motor fleet underwriter and Joe Murphy becomes underwriter for property and combined package.

The appointments have been made as part of the firm’s strategic plan to enhance its presence and market share in the province.

Burgess joins Brit from Zurich, where he worked in Belfast for more than two decades, most of which he spent dealing with motor fleet business.

Murphy leaves behind Royal and SunAlliance, where he worked for a decade and a half in Belfast.

Brit UK’s chief executive officer, Peter Burrows, described recruiting the best professionals possible had been the cornerstone of the firm’s success, adding that both Burgess and Murphy bring with them extensive experience and that he was delighted to welcome them aboard.
