Easter to see rise in DIY claims

| March 19, 2008 | 0 Comments

Over the course of Easter DIY mishaps are forecast to cause £25m worth of damage, according to home insurers.

The prediction is based upon previous experience, when the break has been seized upon as a time to attempt DIY projects, only for more harm than good to be caused.

Home insurers typically see a spike in claims around this time of year.

Allianz Insurance’s Simon Coughlin urged would be DIYers to check the policy they currently hold, in order to ascertain whether or not their insurance would cover any claim for damage they might accidentally cause.

The average claim for a DIY incident is around £600.

Nor is it homes alone that suffer at the hands of DIY.

Allianz has conducted research revealing that three in ten of DIYers end up injuring themselves whilst trying to improve their homes.
