New CEO for XL Capital
XL Capital Ltd has announced that Michael McGavick is to take up the post of chief executive officer.
McGavick requires immigration approval of the Bermudan government to assume the position.
On 1 May he will succeed Brian M. O’Hara, who has spent 13 years in the top job after annoucning his retirement in the latter half of 2007.
O’Hara is also currently Acting Chairman of the board, a position he intends to retain until April 2009 in an effort to help maintain a sense of continuity during the change of leadership.
Robert Glauber, XL Lead Director, has praised McGavick, describing him as an extremely talented man capable of leading the firm to face the challenges of the forthcoming decade.
O’Hara has said that he is excited to have McGavick lead the firm, adding that he looks forward to working alongside him.
