Peter Zaffino has succeeded David Spiller as Guy Carpenter’s chief executive officer.

The circumstances relating to Spiller’s parting ways with the firm are unknown.

Zaffino joined Guy Carpenter seven years ago, and has been promoted from his current role as US Treaty Operations head and executive vice president.

In addition, Britt Newhouse has been named as the firm’s new chairman.

Newhouse was first hired by Guy Carpenter in 1979, in the New York Casualty Treaty Department. Presently he serves as president of Americas broking operations.

Both Newhouse and Zaffino assume their new positions immediately.

They will report to Brian Duperreault, MMC’s chief executive officer and president.

Duperreault has lauded the two senior appointments, saying that both bring with them a wealth of experience in the industry, adding that he looks forward to collaborating with them.
