Gordon Springett has been named by Marsh as the firm’s new power and utility chief for the EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) region.
He takes over from Mark Pollard, who has been moved to lead the EMEA’s industry division.
Springett joined the firm in 1990, prior to which he served as the UK Central Electricity Generating Board’s risk and insurance manager.
The Power and Utility Practice he now leads is responsible for the electric, gas, and water industries in the EMEA region, and for offering risk solution provision.
Pollard, until recently the power and utility chief, explained that the emphasis of the position had changed in the last few years.
He said that whereas equipment used to be the main point of interest, companies today are concerned with matters such as climate change and carbon dioxide emissions.
Pollard also said that Springett was the right man to exploit the new potential in the market.
