Barbara Bradshaw has been appointed as the chief executive of the board of the Institute of Insurance Brokers.
She assumes the post immediately, and replaces Andrew Paddick, who died last month.
The chairman of the board, Graham Gomm, explained that the board was intent on maintaining the very best level of service for its members.
Gomm went on to say that in recent years the board grew to depend upon the team set in place by Paddick and Bradshaw, making her his ideal replacement.
Bradshaw paid tribute to Paddick, saying that not only could no-one fill his shoes, but that nobody would want to.
She praised his legacy of leaving behind a top quality team.
Amongst the key colleagues working alongside Bradshaw is the head of technical services, Ann Peel, and Barbara Johnston, administration manager.
