Paul Kurgo has been named by Liberty International Underwriters as their new Head of Commercial UK and Ireland, effective from 11 February.

He leaves behind QBE, where he served a six year stint. Earlier in his career, Kurgo worked for HSB Engineering Insurance Ltd and Hansa Industrial Insurance Ltd.

Kurgo will be responsible for the firm’s UK and Irish commercial operations, with a particular emphasis on current activities at Bristol, Manchester and Dublin.

In addition, he will also be tasked with the development and implementation of strategy to expand the firm’s commercial presence.

He will report directly to Sean Rocks, the firm’s European chief executive.

Rocks has stated that the firm is committed to growing its commercial presence, and has said that Kurgo’s appointment will ensure that the firm’s objectives in the area are realised.
