Brian Duperreault has been named by Marsh & McLennan Companies as the firm’s new president and chief executive officer.

Duperreault brings extensive experience to his new position, having served as ACE’s chief executive for a decade and chairman of the board.

The market capitalisation grew eighteenfold under his leadership, soaring from $1.1bn to $19bn today.

Earlier in his career Duperreault worked with AIG for more than two decades.

MMC’s chairman of the board, Stephen R. Hardis, welcomed the appointment, praising Duperreault’s track record of creating shareholder value and achieving results.

Duperreault has expressed his own sense of honour at receiving the appointment, saying that he looks forward to working with the firm’s talented executives.
