Former Prime Minister Tony Blair has signed an advisory agreement with Zurich Financial Services.

James Schiro, the firm’s chief executive officer, will receive advice from Blair as part of the deal.

In addition, Blair will offer general advice about the global political scene.

He will also have the particular task of assisting the firm with its recently announced Climate Initiative, and will collaborate closely with the Climate Change Advisory Council.

Blair has said he is very pleased to be taking on his new role advising on climate change, stating that the consensus on the science meant that policy decisions had to be made that see intention carried out in real world action.

He went on to say that the insurance sector had an important role to play, and he welcomed the chance to play his part assisting Zurich.

Schiro has stated that the firm is excited to have such an experienced and expert advisor as Blair on the issue.
