A new pet insurance product is to be launched by LV=.

Two policies, Essential and Premier, will cover both cats and dogs aged 8 weeks or older with starting prices of £5 for cats and £7 for dogs.

Vet’s fees will be covered by the new policies, as well as financial contributions to advertising and rewards should a pet go missing, kennel fees if the policyholder is hospitalised and accidental damage to third party property.

In addition a variety of free helplines will be included, such as legal advice, a service listing registered pet minders and bereavement counselling.

Essential will cover each specific condition for one year after its onset.

Premier offers £5,000 per condition, for an unlimited period of time.
