Robert Brown has been named by Aon as the firm’s new corporate division chief executive.

The division covers Commercial Insurance, Professional Services Group and Trade Credit operations.

Brown has worked for Aon since 2001, and, prior to his new appointment, held the post of risk transfer chief for Aon Global UK.

He succeeds John Thornton, who has left the firm.

Peter Harmer, the firm’s chief executive, praised Brown’s deep knowledge of the industry, accrued over 24 years of experience, adding that he was highly regarded and passionate.

Harmer went on to say that it was Brown’s record of leadership combined with his courage and integrity that made him the ideal candidate for the job.

Harmer also wished John Thornton well for the future, saying that he had always demonstrated commitment through his hard work for the firm.
