John Leonard has been appointed as chairman of the board by ACORD.

This will be the second occasion upon which he has chaired the board, the first being in 2001.

Leonard holds the positions of chief executive and president of Maine Employers’ Mutual Insurance Company (MEMIC) Group.

He spent almost three decades with The Travelers before joining MEMIC in 1993. At The Travelers he was leader of the Commercial Lines Agency Marketing and Underwriting Division.

Leonard is also a member of the National Workers’ Compensation Reinsurance Pool Board and the Board of Directors for the National Council on Compensation Insurance (NCCI).

Three further appointments have been made to add new members to the board itself, namely Lawrence E. Blakeman of MetLife, Robert Slocum of Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of America, and Andreas Beerli from Swiss Re.
