Lockton, the US-based privately owned insurance broker, is relocating its European headquarters to the St Botolph’s development on the eastern side of the City of London.

The company, which is currently located at 6 Bevis Marks, has agreed a 20-year lease with property developer Minerva, for 84,000 square feet of office space.

The new headquarters is scheduled for completion in 2010 and forms part of a high quality office and retail development.

Mike Hammond, Lockton International chairman, says: “We are very pleased to have reached an agreement with Minerva. The move to a new landmark building at the heart of the City of London underpins our strategy to serve our UK and international clients more efficiently and effectively.”

Lockton’s global business extends across 43 countries and in Europe it operates through a broker partnership with EOS RISQ.

The group now employs over 3,800 staff and has ambitious expansion plans. It is currently the 10th largest insurance brokerage firm in the world.
