Car Insurance Is Cheaper Online, Says NU
Mainstream insurer Norwich Union has today revealed that car insurers may be better off looking online for their insurance as opposed to traditional insurance buying approaches, as the best way to save money quickly on their policies according to a statement issued by a company spokesperson today.
The UK’s largest insurer for retail policies has suggested that it may be valuable for consumers to turn to the Internet when searching for their policies, as a means of saving money in their insurance. Erik Nelson of Norwich Union said that insurers online tend to offer large discounts to customers, and that this may be a way for customers to save up to 10% on the cost of their insurance.
“I don’t think many people are aware that putting a named driver on your licence will give you a discount,” suggested Nelson, advising that it was still important to make sure any named driver had a clean driving history and had ideally remained within the terms of their own insurance policies for a number of years.
Nelson also suggested that customers should securely store their car in a locked garage, which would also help to reduce premium costs and build trust with their insurance company.
Amongst other means of saving money on the cost of motoring policies was the suggestion that drivers doing a low mileage could switch to the pay-as-you-drive policy options, which requires users to fit a mileage monitor to their car, but also allows substantial cost savings off the price of policies.
The statements come as part of Norwich Union’s current policy of offering customer advice as to the various insurance options available to them with Norwich Union, and with other retail insurers.
