The chief executive of the International Underwriting Association (IUA), which represents international and wholesale insurance and reinsurance companies, is to begin a weblog that will provide an insight into the London market and the work of the IUA.

Dave Matcham’s blog will appear on the IUA’s main website and will focus on topical issues facing the insurance sector.

It will also encourage feedback from IUA members and the insurance industry generally.

Mr Matcham says he will not be seeking to replicate or compete with the “newsletters and official communications flying about the market” but rather present a personal view of the topics that are of interest to IUA members.

The blog will include comment on how the London market is operating and what the IUA is doing on behalf of its members.

The IUA exists to protect and strengthen the business environment for its member companies operating in or through London and is particularly keen to promote technology that creates greater efficiency for the operation of companies’ underwriting businesses.

Mr Matcham points out that: “Embracing technology requires financial investment, identification of tools, but also, very importantly, cultural change” and he hopes that “by beginning this blog the IUA can, in a small way, help influence this cultural shift.”
