John Nicholson, Marsh’s chief operating officer in the UK, has been made chairman of the firm’s Scottish operations.

In his new role, he will be responsible for Marsh’s Aberdeen, Edinburgh and Glasgow offices. Nicholson will retain his membership of the Audit and Risk Committees, as well as his directorship. He has spent a decade with the firm, and 35 years as an insurance broker and risk advisor.

Martin South, chief executive officer of Marsh UK, congratulated Nicholson on his appointment and praised his experience, adding that his skills would benefit the clientele and Scottish staff of Marsh.

Nicholson has express his delight to be returning to Scotland, and has said he is looking forward to improving the firm’s effectiveness there.
