Insurance group Willis has today announced it is to roll out its graduate recruitment programme across its worldwide markets over the course of 2008, with particular emphasis on driving growth in rapid expansion areas like Asian emerging markets.

Rampant growth within the Chinese market over the last few years will see it come to the forefront as a major area for graduate intake growth over 2008, seeing an increase of nearly 50% in the number of positions to be created specifically for graduate university leavers.

Additionally the US side of the business will double its number of places for graduates from 10 to 20 over the course of next year, in order to continue to fuel growth in the region which has remained particularly strong in recent years, as part of the group’s wider dedication to bringing in quality graduates.

Student places have also been cleared in insurance divisions around other fledgling international markets, from the Czech Republic to Russia, from Poland to South Africa. The move to increase further student recruitment is designed to enhance the current global staff of 16,000 across Willis’ 300 different offices.

Josie Mula of the Willis Graduate Recruitment programme was today quoted as saying that the growing demand for placements from students combined with the ongoing growth ambitions of Willis have created the ideal environment for stepping up the scale of its appointments.

“The success of the graduate program has led to an overwhelming demand from students, so we are delighted to be increasing the number of places available in 2008″.

“As we continue to diversify our program going forward, our graduates will have the opportunity to work in our overseas offices and gain exposure to different cultures and people.”
