Fortis name new underwriting director

Fortis Insurance has announced that Adam Clarke will be the firm’s new director of underwriting.

Clarke’s position will entail collaborating closely with the firm’s affinity and partnership underwriting, commercial underwriting and new product development teams. He will be responsible for managing the performance and profitability of accounts in these areas.

Clarke leaves behind a position as commercial director of home, pet and travel with the Royal Bank of Scotland.

Earlier in his career he held the post of finance director for Churchill, itself a part of the RBS. During this tenure he was responsible for driving forward development of new household and life product strategies.

Barry Smith, Fortis’ UK chief executive, has expressed his delight at Clarke’s appointment, praising his experience in finance and development.

Clarke has stated he was impressed by Fortis’ singular approach to insurance, and its confidence in leading the market rather than following it.
