John Hurrell has been appointed as AIRMIC’s new chief executive, effective from 7 January 2008.
He will leave behind his present position with Marsh of head of risk consulting (Europe, Middle East and Africa).
Hurrell will succeed Alan Fleming, who has been holding the role of chief executive on a temporary basis since June.
The search for a permanent chief executive has been on since David Gamble stepped down from the role after occupying it for almost a decade. Hurrell will now be tasked with leading AIRMIC’s e-learning course, PRORIM.
Colin Campbell, the firm’s chairman, explained that the search for a replacement for Gamble had only stopped when they had found a man of the right calibre, praising Hurrell’s experience, leadership and skills.
Campbell also had warm words for the interim chief executive, Alan Fleming, saying that Fleming’s good work had enabled a smooth transfer of responsibility.
Hurrell has expressed his own enthusiasm for the new role, and says he looks forward to working with his new colleagues.
