Atle Farstad, an expert in international risk, has been appointed by Marsh to the position of principal in its London-based risk consulting practice.

Prior to joining Marsh Farstad was co-founder and senior partner at a small risk consulting business. Before that he enjoyed a stint as chief risk officer for Norwegian firm Norske Skog ASA, the world’s second largest producer of newsprint. Earlier in his career he spent a decade with Kvaerner ASA, a multinational industry group operating across the globe, working as finance director.

In his new job his responsibilities will include integrating the firm’s risk consulting service with the broader risk management service of its parent company, MMC, and managing Marsh’s portfolio of large multinational clients.

Marsh’s business risk consulting MD, Eddie McLaughlin, has stated that the area of risk is becoming ever more complex for large firms. Farstad’s decades of experience in the sector would be invaluable, McLaughlin said, and would help the firm to develop and grow its business on a global scale.
