Aviva name new chief risk officer
Marcelo Cruz has been appointed by Aviva to serve as its new group chief risk officer.
Cruz leaves behind his position at Lehman Brothers, in New York, where he held the role of senior risk manager with responsibility for risk analytics.
Earlier in his career he was the creator and MD of RiskMaths, a boutique consulting group.
Before founding RiskMaths he had worked as a derivatives trader, and worked at UBS AG and UBS Warburg helping to develop operational risk methodology.
As group chief risk officer Cruz will be responsible to Aviva’s Aviva group finance director, Philip Scott, who supervises risk and compliance throughout the group.
Scott expressed his delight at the latest appointment to the firm, praising Cruz as a ‘leading voice’ and stating his belief that Cruz would play a vital part for Aviva.
