Mike Melling has been appointed by Marsh as the firm’s new CEO for its Consumer Practice in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA).

In addition, Melling will become a member of the EMEA Operating Committee and will be based in London.

Melling joins Marsh from GE Money where he held the position of head of the business to consumer division of GE Money Home Lending. From 2005 onwards he was also a board director for the firm, when he had responsibilities for mortgages, loans and insurance, including sales to a consumer base of 16m UK customers.

During his time at GE Money has put together a sales and marketing team of over 500, and held responsibility for sales, as well as strategic partnerships.

Earlier in his career, Melling worked for American Express in a range of top flight positions, including a stint as head of international customer management and cross-sales when he increased both brand loyalty and sales through the use of innovative sales strategies.

Melling has stated his excitement at the opportunity his new role presents, and to collaborating with colleagues across the continent and beyond in an effort to maintain top class global services.
