Royal & Sun Alliance Announce IT Support Contract With T-Systems

Insurance group Royal & Sun Alliance has today announced it has agreed a deal with German company T-Systems for the outsourced provision of IT services over the next decade, which will see the group look to stabilise its infrastructure support system as it continues to expand its client-facing operations.

The deal is thought to be worth in excess of £92 million and will see both companies join together for the next ten years in IT and printing services, with T-Systems to overtake certain centralised printing houses currently owned by Royal & Sun Alliance, along with the existing staff at each facility.

Facilities in Liverpool and Bristol in England will be transferred to Royal & Sun Alliance for the period along with 63 staff members currently working within those operations, as part of the deal between the two firms for the duration of the ten years of the agreement.

T-Systems is owned and operated as a subsidiary of Deutsche Telekom, the German national telecomms utility, dealing with commercial customers and service provisions. As such it will provide support services to Royal & Sun Alliance after prevailing in the tender and procurement processes earlier this year.

The move will see T-Systems support Royal & Sun Alliance’s critical IT system, essential for maintaining their operation and allowing access to uniform database resources, whilst also running their printing jobs from within the designated facilities to run off policy documents and general administrative works.

Speaking today on the agreement, which will cement the partnership until 2017, Shirley Campbell of Royal & Sun Alliance said that the move will allow the company to benefit from the cost savings of outsourcing whilst increasing efficiency in service provision through leading edge IT and print technologies.
