Ian Gale has been announced by Willis as their new strategic leader in Ipswich.
He has been with the firm for more than three decades, mostly as chief operating officer for the UK with Willis Re.
Since the start of 2007 Gale has led a number of projects in the Shaping Our Future programme which aims to perpetually better the financial leadership of the firm using a set of strategic initiatives.
In addition, the Mumbai office, similar to the Ipswich operation he will now head, is under his executive responsibility.
Willis has stated its belief that Gale’s move to head up Ipswich, (where the firm employs over 1,200 people), will bolster its position as an important player in the global support centre and retail markets.
Grahame Millwater, the firm’s chief operating officer, affirmed his belief in Ipswich’s importance, and said that even more business could be moved there in the future. Moving Gale to lead both Ipswich and Mumbai would help boost collaboration between the two offices, he added, enhancing the firm’s service capabilities which will be essential in Willis’ efforts to continue growing.
