RBS Appoints Martin Hall of Zurich
The Royal Bank of Scotland insurance division has today announced its appointment of a former Zurich insurance boss as part of its ongoing commitment to developing its growing home underwriting business arm.
The appointment sees former Zurich head of personal products Martin Hall joining the Royal Bank of Scotland to oversee the development of its home insurance line in what it sees as a growing area for commercial development over the coming years, despite prior warnings that flood defence risks may increase in the near future.
Hall will be responsible for developing the current home insurance underwriting business at RBS, as well as building on existing business relationships to leverage increasing commercial opportunity for the division as it continues to grow over the coming years.
Hall’s appointment sees the Royal Bank of Scotland continue its ongoing drive to develop its role within the insurance market, particularly in relation to consumer lines through the domestic insurance sector and the underwriting of such insurance products.
Prior to his appointment, Hall was responsible for overseeing personal underwriting at Zurich insurance for a number of years, with an even greater experience in the insurance industry for many years prior.
Speaking today on the appointment, a spokesperson from the Royal Bank of Scotland said the company was delighted to have attracted an employee of Hall’s calibre, with his knowledge and experience of the market likely to be instrumental in the development of the RBS’s home insurance brand.
Hall himself said he was relishing the prospect of employment in the Royal Bank of Scotland, particularly within its fast moving consumer insurance business. His appointment is expected to be the first of many within the home insurance division over the coming months, as the company looks to leverage its existing position within the home insurance market.
