Insurance company Novae have today announced the appointment of a former AIG executive to its post as head of Scotland and Northern Ireland regions, as part of its ongoing strategy of corporate development outwith its core business markets.

The company has today announced former AIG man John Gibson as its new head for regional development in the outlaying areas, with responsibility for expanding business at a regional level and increasing sustainability of lines within these divisions. Additionally, he will oversee the day to day management of operations within the Scottish and Northern Irish division.

Formerly with AIG, Gibson was responsible for managing UK regional business in a similar position to his current appointment, which will see him assume post in early November. Prior to that he worked with Marsh in charge of UK retail and brokering divisions, giving him more than suitable pedigree for the Novae post.

The news comes as part of Novae’s wider drive to reorganisation, in a bid to diversify its current dependencies into what it currently considers fringe markets with potential. The move will likely be the first of several key appointments as the brand undertakes its reshuffle in secondary business operations in order to spread risk and leverage existing marketing channels.

Speaking today on the appointment, a spokesperson from Novae said the company was delighted to be able to draw on the skill and talent of employees of Gibson’s calibre, citing his experience in marketing and sales as key to establishing the company’s dominance in Scottish and Irish markets.

It is thought that Gibson will be charged with promoting financial lines and directors’ and officers’ liability insurance to the regional UK markets in his initial spell in office, as well as developing existing client and broker relations across the network.
