Mick Jacobs has been appointed as Prefential’s new chairman, with immediate effect.

This is the latest move in the firm’s expansion and strengthening of its upper echelons.

Prior to his new role Jacobs held a number of management positions at the Group’s underwriting wing, Optimum Underwriting. His new colleagues will include the MD Steve Nickerson and financial director David Marshall, and the three of them will be working on the Preferential Group’s continuing strategic development.

Nickerson has expressed his delight at Jacobs’ appointment and admiration for his new colleague’s experience in and knowledge of underwriting, travel insurance and business development.

Travel insurance is the Preferential Group’s specialty and in 2006 the firm provided policies for over 3 million travellers. The Group has three main divisions for business-to-business insurance (Preferential Insurance Services), underwriting (Optimum Underwriting) and Preferential Direct which faces consumers.
