Nick Metcalf has been newly appointed as Liberty Syndicate Management Limited’s new chief executive.

Liberty Syndicates has a capacity of £917m and five specialist business lines, which include London market reinsurance, property and casualty.

Metcalf’s previous position was with Arch Insurance Group, where he had been director of European operations since 2004.

Metcalf has stated he is looking forward to working with Liberty Syndicates, a market leader at Lloyd’s, and is intent on helping the firm to move forwards in his new role.

Edmund F. Kelly, CEO and president of Liberty Mutual Group Chairman, described Lloyd’s powerful market position as an important reason for Liberty Mutual’s maintaining their presence at Lloyd’s, and their Syndicates’ continued underwriting discipline.
