The future chairman of the London Market Reform Group has been revealed as Stephen Matanle, currently Marsh’s Global Placement Leader and chairman of the London Market Insurance Brokers’ Committee.

Dane Douetil, the incumbent and CEO of Brit Insurance, will hand over to Matanle at the end of 2007.

Douetil announced to the Insurance Institute of London that the Market Reform Group requires a combined effort to make London the most attractive place for global insurance and expressed his confidence that his successor would continue to maintain the momentum the MRG had built up and to further improve London’s global prestige.

Matanle echoed the incumbent’s commitment to reforming London so the city can retain its powerful position in the financial services sector and said he was excited to be playing a role in the MRG.

Lloyd’s chief executive, Richard Ward, publicly thanked Douetil for his good work as chairman of the MRG and praised the significant progress made during his tenure. Ward also stated his confidence in Matanle’s appointment, citing his experience as a broker to be a strong asset that would prove valuable when seeking to galvanise support from that sector.
