Ascot Underwriting has today announced further steps in its bid to strengthen the management outlook of its renewable energy subsidiary Ascot Renewco with the appointment of two senior, high profile experts top its management team.

The relatively new renewables division has undergone several steps towards consolidation over the last few months, culminating today in the appointments of experts Captain Peter Hodgetts and Professor Leon Freris, formerly of Loughborough University.

Both will be appointed to the management board of Ascot Renewco in an advisory capacity, to help ensure the division makes informed decisions regarding environmental risk and renewable energy related claims. Both of the new appointments have impressive career track records, making them ideally suited to their roles according to a spokesperson from the company today.

Captain Hodgetts is currently operations director at his company SeaRoc UK. Specialising in marine engineering and marine renewable energy forms, Hodgetts is also an expert on marine construction with a background in offshore development.

Meanwhile Professor Peter Freris formerly of Loughborough University was instrumental in the founding of the British Wind Energy Association of which he is still a member today. He is well published in the area of renewables, and is widely considered to be a national authority on renewable energy.

Ascot have today said that their vision with these two new appointments is to provide real insight into the kind of markets into which they are venturing, in order to provide a greater all round picture of their risk exposure.

Speaking today on the new appointments, executive Martin Reith said that the impact of the appointments would filter through to clients and brokers as a result of the new levels of technical know-how Ascot can bring forward in its policies.
