Lloyd’s has today publicly announced the launch of its graduate employment programme which will take in a starting crop of 10 university graduates as of September next years as it looks to bring in fresh young faces to insurance sectors.
The announcement comes as part of Lloyd’s commitment to reinvesting in the insurance market through encouraging grass roots employment of university graduates, which it is hoping will help propel its business over the coming years.
The details of the programme were elaborated today, and will see graduates undertaking a rigorous eighteen month programme of different ’seats’ within the Lloyd’s operation, with a view to full time employment following successful completion.
The paid positions will be opened to ten university graduates from across the UK with specialisms likely to lie in legal, finance and business related degree disciplines as of September 2008.
In rolling out its programme, Lloyd’s joins numerous other firms within the insurance industry in targetting graduate employees, as a means of finding and training skilled middle to upper management for future years from the ground up.
Speaking today about the programme, chief executive of Lloyd’s Richard Ward cited sourcing fresh talent for the future of the business as its core reason for looking to graduates for future employment.
Additionally, director at Lloyds Sean McGovern believes that the current recruitment policy at Lloyd’s, in conjunctio with its graduate recruitment promotions will bring benefit to the industry as a whole, through introducing a new breed of professional talent.
Lloyd’s also announced today that it was to embark on a national recruitment drive, focusing on university graduates and undergraduates about to enter the world of employment. This is to be marketed in conjunction with a substantial advertising campaign to promote Lloyd’s as a credible graduate recruiter for current students.
