Tom Squires has been named as the new marine and energy casualty underwriter for Aegis London, the UK-based subsidiary of Aegis.

Previously Squires had worked for four years as an underwriter for the Markel syndicate, before which he had been a marine casualty broker at Jardine Lloyd Thomson. He is expected to take up his new job on 1 December.

Squires will report directly to Chris Terry, head of casualty, about his duties which include supporting line underwriters on marine and energy casualty and concentrating on offshore energy casualty.

David Croom-Johnson, active underwriter for Aegis London, expressed the firm’s delight at Squires’ appointment who, it is felt, will be a strong asset for the firm both at present and into the future. He added that Aegis had a desire to invest in talented individuals, citing the newly appointed Squires as an example and expressing the organisation’s confidence in their latest member.
