The CII’s Talent Initiative has received the backing of a plethora of the industry’s big names, including Towergate, Talent & Pro, AXA and Norwich Union and many others.

The Director of Talent Initiative, Elliot Lane, has been impressed with the unified support from leading names more used to competing with one another, emphasising the importance the industry has placed upon the Talent Initiative.

The first event (”Know Risk: The Big Event”) takes place at the University of Manchester on 31 October and will be the first insurance only careers event.

High-profile individuals such as the BBC’s Declan Curry and Manchester City’s MD Karren Brady will be speaking, and there will also be topical discussions on climate change and terrorism.

Future plans for the Talent Initiative include trying to interest students in the industry and a business strategy game, with the winner claiming a cool £25,000.

The Initiative’s website (www.insurancecareers.cii.co.uk) has had over 1,600 students registering on it and has received over 50,000 hits since the Talent Initiative’s launch in October 2006.
