Independent Insurance Services has today announced its decision to launch its new ‘Ecocover’ product range, which will see incentives introduced into commercial policies for environmentally friendly practice ad business.

The Ecocover policy underlines the IIS commitment to environmentally friendly commerce, as the only insurance broker currently to be registered by the British Standards Environmental Management System (BSEMS) as an environmentally considerate business operation.

The policy, released today for commercial buyers, will be underwritten by a leading UK insurance firm in partnership with IIS, which is hoping to increase the popularity of its ‘green’ insurance policies through direct cash incentives.

Complying customers can save discounts up to and including 10% from the cost of their policy, in addition to a whole host of additional perks as a result of qualifying environmental practices, including recycling, green energy purchasing and environmentally conscious procurement.

The policy will be extended to cover damage to solar panels and wind turbines, as a further reflection of the green angle of this particular IIS product range.

Market analysts and environmentalists alike have welcomed the launch as a true innovation in insurance, and it is hoped that the direct link with environmental benefits and cash incentives will be sufficient to both grow the policy’s reach and the underlying message promoted by IIS.

Ecocover has been heralded as the first of its kind in commercial insurance, and it is anticipated that it will be opened further of the coming year in lieu of its initial success, as well as a further range of benefits for IIS policy holders demonstrating eco-friendly business practices.
