Gardeners and adventurers should check small print

Gardener lovers and adventurers would be well advised to check their insurance policies.

According to Alliance & Leicester Personal Loans, almost a third of the people participating in their recent survey would spend more time in their gardens if only they were more attractive.

Those aged in their twenties and early thirties were particularly keen on more outdoor life.

Forty-nine per cent of respondents liked the idea of a new shrubbery, whilst 32% were seeking to improve external lighting.

The growing trend for people to treat their gardens as an extra room can lead to a substantial investment in items all too available to opportunistic thieves.

Those expanding their horizons in this way would be well advised to establish what insurance cover they have in place.

The Association of British Insurers is also advising consumers to take a look at policy small print.

It is warning anyone planning on participating in extreme sports on this summer’s holiday to check the details of the travel insurance they have in place.

Many standard policies will not cover activities such as white-water rafting and may have an exclusion on all dangerous sports.
