Excellent Value from Small Travel Insurers

Monseysupermarket.com, the price comparison website, is warning consumers that travel insurance policies issued by well-known insurers do not necessarily represent the best value for money.

Research conducted by the website shows that some little known firms are currently offering excellent value for money and consumers would be well advised to shop around as buying travel insurance from a well known provider can cost twice as much as taking out the same level of cover with a lesser known firm.

According to Richard Mason, director of insurance at moneysupermarket.com, single trip insurance for two thirty-year-olds travelling to Florida costs £28.50 with Flexicover Direct compared with £114 from Thomas Cook, the travel agent.

The Financial Services Authority has recently said that it will be regulating the travel insurance sector from 2009, and that it aims to increase the level of protection offered to holidaymakers.
